April 19

We were not excited for the ride back into town from Montana de Oro. We came here because we had extra time and people recommended it. However, as we were biking into the park we were flyingggg down a hill that we would have to struggle up in the morning. It ended up being super easy and the detour was totally worth it!

Just North of Montana de Oro is Morro Bay, another very popular state park. The town of Morro Bay is really cute and small. We stopped at a bike shop there because Joe needed a new bottle cage and patches. He popped his tire when we were taking a scenic bike ride around the park. We were told to go see the otters in in the cove/marina of Morro Bay. We only saw 2, but it was still cool to see them laying on their backs with their feet and hands in the air.

After that we were on the lovely highway US 1. Since we had time to spare before the paragliding we stopped in Cayucos for a coffee and catching up on the blog. We met a nice lady who was very intrigued by our trip…her name was Gayle Force! Haha so cool. She told us to stop by the glass blowing shop in Harmony. Harmony ended up being a town of 18 and the shop was one of 3 buildings in the town. It was an awesome shop though!

From Harmony we headed straight to San Simeon to our campsite. We pulled in and there were 3 other tents already set up! It was cool to see so many bikers in the hike and bike site. We were stoked on the $5/ night too 🙂 The rest of the night was great, we shared travel stories around the fire and later 2 more cyclists showed up!
